Subrata Roy, the Chairman of Sahara Pariwar, was born on June 10, 1948. He spent his childhood at Araria, Bihar. A bright boy, Roy didn’t let his middle class background deter him from pursuing his dreams. He went on to obtain a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Government Technical Institute, Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh).
Subrata Roy started modestly with Rs 2,000 in 1978, from a small office in Gorakhpur. Today, he heads the Sahara India Pariwar that has grown from just 42 depositors to over 6.1 crore depositors through 1,707 establishments across India.
Subrata Roy aims to evoke an emotive connect to each and every Indian across the nation while placing India in the world map.
